Your home is where you’re most comfortable, surrounded by everything that’s familiar. But for seniors, or those recovering from injury or facing a serious medical condition, living home alone can be potentially hazardous. If a fall or emergency would to occur, who would call for help?Care Connection Lifeline, a division of Calvert Home Health Care, Ltd., can help individuals maintain their independence and provide security and peace of mind for the family.Care Connection Lifeline is an easy-to-use medical alert service designed to reduce the risk of living alone, explains Patsy Wooten, Care Connection Coordinator. In the event of a fall or emergency, help is available at the push of a button. Here’s how Care Connection works: when a client requests the service, Patsy visits the home to install a communicator unit, which works with the home telephone. The client wears the Care Connection Lifeline personal help button, either on their wrist or as a pendant. The call buttons are water-proof, and Patsy recommends clients wear the buttons at all times since you never know when an emergency could occur. In the case of a fall or other type of emergency, the client simply presses the help button. The communicator unit activates and establishes two-way voice communication. Within seconds, a trained Lifeline Response Associate assesses the situation to determine whether you require a visit from a neighbor or family member and can contact them for you. If you need emergency help, the associate can dispatch EMS or the help needed.
